The customer's challenge
The customer had seen its project profitability decline over the years and decided that an external analysis of the working methods was needed and that they wanted to get input on best practices from similar companies.
System before/after
System before/after
The customer used Next for project management, which was integrated with Visma for finance and invoicing. Our assignment did not result in any system changes, but it did provide a basis for the development of their existing systems.
Solution
Solution
Our project finance expertise combined with in-depth interviews with all relevant functions in the company provided the factual basis we needed to identify the areas of improvement with the greatest potential. We saw no reason to change Next as it offered relevant support for the business at a reasonable cost. However, we saw that the configuration and use needed to be more sophisticated to get better control of the project finances. In addition, there was potential for improved working methods to increase revenue and cash flow that the business itself had not thought much about.
Result
Result
The action plan we handed over was taken over by the company's CFO who took it forward in a group with a few employees. 4 months after we handed it over, they were well on their way to realising the improvements and were very happy to have an external independent plan to work from that was free from internal opinion.
Conclusions
Conclusions
Getting an external perspective on internal considerations and the opportunity to have your own challenges compared to best practice in other similar companies is very valuable because it removes internal contradictions and provides ideas on how others have done it. In addition, the customer also gets confirmation of what they are doing well and can continue with no changes.
