The customer's challenge
The customer's challenge
When we started the system procurement with our customer, they had two different business systems, one of which would stop being supported at the end of next year and the other would need to be upgraded and lifted to a new version shortly. In addition to this, the two companies worked quite differently and a challenge during the procurement was then to find a system support that would match the future needs of functionality and process support while harmonising their processes.
If the project did not succeed in reaching a decision, group management from Germany would have forced the Swedish companies to implement SAP, which none of the organisations wanted. Therefore, a decision from the Swedish organisation was very critical.
Systems before and after
Systems before and after
In their previously existing application landscape, one company had Microsoft Navision and the other company had IFS 8, both of which are two older business systems and where there are currently a number of different solutions that can match the company's future need to harmonise their working methods where possible.
After the procurement was completed, the customer selected 4PS and an implementation plan was approved shortly after the decision was made. The implementation plan included a plan to implement the ERP system in two phases, the first phase for the business whose current system support was to be discontinued and the second phase for the other business that would otherwise have had to upgrade existing system support.
Solution
Solution
Together with the customer, we conducted a procurement with 3 different business systems that we felt had the potential to match the needs of the business. The three system supports included in the procurement were Netsuite, 4PS and IFS.
During the procurement process, it emerged that it was desirable to use a system that one of the organisations was already familiar with. It was therefore decided that the choice was between 4PS and IFS.
Result
Result
The procurement resulted in a number of to-be processes that formed the basis of the requirements that were delivered to the system suppliers.
After the procurement process was delayed for various reasons, the organisation and the steering group finally decided to use Fellowmind, a partner of 4PS.
Conclusions
Conclusions
When two organisations within the same group enter a project together and choose a new ERP system, there is a risk that the project participants do not look objectively at the system support presented during the proof of concept demos. This occurred at this customer and resulted in an internal dialogue where neither party could agree.
